If you were in Mumbai over the weekend and watched Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai in a single screen theatre and had a man sitting next to you or standing in the aisle with a cap and shades, chances are you saw none other than Emraan Hashmi. The actor, in order to gauge the response of his recent release, visited numerous single screen theatres in Mumbai incognito.
Says a friend of Emraan, "To begin with, Emraan's idea was to connect with his fans directly for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Despite going to eleven cities for a promotional tour that lasted for a fortnight, Emraan wasn't allowing any fatigue to set in. This is a major film for him that has him in a dramatic avatar and he wasn't going to let go of the opportunity for his fanbase to increase manifold. Due to this, he decided to go to not one, not two but all single screen cinema halls in Mumbai to meet the audience and know their views about the movie."
As a result, a surprised audience saw Emraan Hashmi amidst them. To begin with, he wanted to directly interact with audience and hence didn't have any qualms about walking in casually and asking them about what they felt after the end credits had rolled.
